Preaching Apocalyptic

United
Theological Seminary's sixth annual
retreat/seminar for continuing education,
master's and doctoral students will be held
August 4-6 at Bergamo Center
(Dayton). Speakers and leaders include Dr. Ed
McNulty, Dr. Richard L. Eslinger, and The
Rev. Lynn M. Labs.

Educator Network Event
|
On
August 21 Southminster Presbyterian
Church will be the site for "lunch and a
dialogue regarding one of the most important
challenges facing our society today: the moral
and spiritual development of our children. "
The event is sponsored by the Educator Network
of Presbytery of the Miami Valley, and the
Columbus Area Chapter of the Lutheran
Association of Christian Educators and led by
The LOGOS Ministry, a leader in children's
ministry for 45 years.

Resource Center Changes |
|
 We
welcome Jeanette Anderson as the new staff
person for the PMV Resource Center. Located on
the lower floor of our offices at 1541 S.
Smithville Rd., Dayton, the Resource Center is
now open Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday 9:00
A.M.-1:00 P.M. It is also open anytime the
presbytery office is open for self-serve check
out. Stop by the presbytery office for a key
during times the Resource Center is not
staffed.

Westminster Presbyterian Church,
Xenia (Pastor Brian Maguire) The
church maintains a partnership with
Tecumseh Elementary School in Xenia. The
partnership helps students with school
supplies throughout the year, and church
members volunteer as "book buddies" who
read with children needing extra
encouragement and practice.
NORTH WEST
NEIGHBORHOOD
Westminster Presbyterian Church,
Piqua (Pastor Judy Rich) The Rev.
Rich has announced that she will retire
after 27 years of pastoral ministry. Pending
presbytery approval, her last Sunday at
Westminster will be September 28.
SOUTH EAST
NEIGHBORHOOD
Lebanon Presbyterian Church,
Lebanon (Pastor Peter Larson) The
church is part of Interfaith Hospitality
Network, which provides shelter, meals,
hospitality and support for homeless
families in Warren County at the church on
a rotating basis with other congregations.
SOUTH WEST
NEIGHBORHOOD
St.
Luke Presbyterian Church, Middletown
(Pastor Jan Dillaman) The church holds
"Bring a Friend Sundays" in the summer and
encourages members to pray for "that
special someone that you will bring to
church."
Oxford Presbyterian Church, Oxford
(Co-pastors Barbara and Mark Barnes) With
the leadership of Educator Pru Dana, the
church will begin its 12th year of
Workshop Rotation Sunday School Classes in
September. Each workshop features five
weeks of art, drama, Bible skills, media
and computers. Children will study
Worship for Life.

Midwest SDOP Meeting
at Trinity July 19
|
 |
All are welcome to come to the Trinity
Presbyterian Church to meet with the Midwest
Committee on the Self Development of People
PC(USA). SDOP is meeting in Dayton on July
18-19 and will hold a community meeting July
19 from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 noon at Trinity
Presbyterian Church.
