All are welcome to come to the Trinity Presbyterian Church to meet with the Midwest Committee on the Self Development of People PC(USA). SDOP is meeting in Dayton at July 18-19 and will have a community meeting on July 19 from 10:00 A.M.-12:00 noon at the Trinity Presbyterian Church.

SDOP's mission is to assist the PCUSA in carrying out its global commitment to work towards the self-development of economically poor, oppressed and disadvantaged people who own, control and benefit directly from projects that promote long-term change in their lives and communities.  This mandate was established by the 182nd General Assembly (1970) at the former United Presbyterian Church (USA) and reaffirmed and approved by the 199th General Assembly (1987) of the PCUSA.

The major income source for the SDOP program is the One Great Hour of Sharing offering, which is collected during lent and receives one third of the collected offering.  PDA and the Presbyterian Hunger Program are the other primary recipients of this program offering.

Persons, members of churches and community groups are encouraged to come to Trinity Presbyterian Church and meet with representatives of the national office and members of the Mid-West SDOP committee to learn about and receive directions and assistance in developing an appropriate proposal to receive funding for this program.  Questions and more information can be attained by contacting Rev. Lutrelle Rainey, SDOP member and pastor of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, at 937-268-2007.
