GATHER, CONNECT, SHARE
The Presbytery Covenant, which was adopted by presbytery in September 2012, is an affirmation of our historic and traditional commitment as Presbyterians to connect with each other as a community in Christ. It is hoped that over this coming year we will both strengthen existing and initiate new ways to live out this connectional covenant. One way will be to gather informally in conversation and fellowship in what will be known as Covenant Conversations – open invitations to meet and share ideas on specific topics about our lives together as a community in Christ. These invitations will be sent out electronically from the presbytery office, but on behalf of individuals throughout the presbytery, announcing a topic, time and location.
This is new ground for us, and it is hard to say exactly what these Covenant Conversations are, so perhaps it is best to first understand what they are not:
- They are not presbytery events – just conversation between folks in the presbytery.
- They are not times of teaching – just opportunities to share thoughts from which may grow wisdom.
- They are not points of facilitation – only places to express wonderings and wanderings.
- They are not concerned with outcomes – rather they are to be journeys of exploration.
The goal is quite simple – to gather, connect, and share wisdom and fellowship with each other in our journeys of faith and discipleship.
