PMV rallies to help our Haitian neighbors

A Presbytery-wide Minute for Mission

During their worship services on World Communion Sunday, October 4, 2026, many churches in our presbytery offered a special Minute for Mission on behalf of our Haitian neighbors in Springfield. Our hope was to offer up a strong, unison blanket of prayer over our Springfield, Ohio brothers and sisters from Haiti. We also requested food donations for our Haitian neighbors, for whom grocery shopping has become difficult since their Temporary Protected Status was revoked.

The Generous Response

386 boxes of food, totaling more than 10,000 pounds, were collected by Presbytery of the Miami Valley churches and taken to Springfield.

In addition, thousands of dollars in cash donations were collected to support the Springfield Haitian Support Center’s Emergency Fund, which provides a variety services to help Springfield’s Haitian community.

As one pastor commented, “There was a lot of enthusiasm for every part of the project, and we’ll look for more ways to be good neighbors to our Haitian siblings going forward.”

Next up will likely be a request for hygiene products. More information will be coming.
