We are fortunate to have several new pastors who have recently joined our presbytery. We have produced a series of articles to introduce and welcome them as they begin their ministries with congregations within Presbytery of the Miami Valley. Joungnam Lee: Immanuel Korean Presbyterian Church, Dayton
The Rev. Joungnam Lee, pastor of Immanuel Korean Presbyterian Church, Dayton, is originally from South Korea. Over the past 20 years he has served the Presbyterian Church in various ways. He served as a youth pastor for four years and an assistant pastor for three years in South Korea. He has served thirteen years as a solo pastor in the U.S. Read more
Annie Melick: First Presbyterian Church, Eaton
The Rev. Annie Melick is the pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton, Ohio. Rev. Melick has been in vocational ministry since 2000. She has served in Associate Minister roles in women’s ministry, drama, missions, English ministry in a Korean church, and family ministry. She has served in an executive role as Director of Ministries and has served two churches as solo pastor. Read more
Jody Schultz Noble: Covenant Presbyterian Church, Springfield
The Rev. Jody Shultz Noble has joyfully accepted to call to journey with Covenant Presbyterian Church, Springfield, as their Designated Pastor beginning on August 22. Jody most recently journeyed for eight years as the Pastor of St. Luke’s in Titusville, FL, and will be coming from Central Florida Presbytery where she serves on the Leadership Committee and is regularly called to serve on Administrative Commissions. Carol Pierson: First Presbyterian Church, Sidney
The Rev. Carol Pierson began serving Sidney First Presbyterian Church as their Designated Pastor on June 1. Originally from Jonesborough TN, the oldest town in Tennessee, Carol began her ministry in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) as a Christian educator. As an educator, she developed faith formation opportunities and led volunteers in in Tennessee, North Carolina, and Virginia. Read more
Joshua Rodriquez: Westminster Presbyterian Church, Piqua
The Rev. Joshua Rodriguez will begin his ministry at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Piqua, on September 1. Josh is a passionate follower of Jesus. He came to faith in high school through a small country church in Marion, Indiana, where he is from. He has been part of churches from several denominations, but found a home in the reformed tradition during seminary. Read more
Mike Wakeland: Xenia United Presbyterian Church, Xenia
Xenia United Presbyterian Church has called its first installed pastor, the Rev. Mike Wakeland, from the Presbytery of Southeastern Illinois. XUPC is a product of the union between Memorial Presbyterian and Westminster Presbyterian churches, which took place just at the onset of COVID-19. It had been ushered through the uniting process by Interim Pastor Kevin Murphy. Read more
Shelley Wiley: Slifers Presbyterian Church, Farmersville
The Rev. Shelley Wiley, Ph.D., began serving as pastor at Slifers Presbyterian Church in Farmersville on June 1. After 36 years in ministry, she has served six churches in various pastoral roles and has taught Religious Studies and Philosophy in four different colleges throughout the US, mostly in the Midwest; some of that time she was either a full-time pastor or professor, and at other times she served in part-time pastorates while also a regular Adjunct Professor.
